Bubble Scarves!

These scarves are made from recycled wool (mostly from old blazers and skirts) using my "bubbling" technique, whereby I wrap marbles in the fabric, and wash and dry on high to shrink the wool into a bubble texture. When I take the marbles out, voila!

These come in different lengths and colors, but here are a couple samples. If you're interested, contact me to discuss particular styles, colors, lengths, etc.

Cat Hat and Paw Mittens

One of my favorite neighbors was barely able to model this cozy hat and mitten set for me the other day, as our Virginia November day was up to almost 80 degrees. Made from fake fur and lined with fleece, it will keep ears and paws warm on even colder days than this.

Art-Wear Trunkshow a Tremendous Success

Jen Athanas, Greta Gonzalez, and I -- and many of our favorite friends and clients -- came together last Sunday for one heck of an extravaganza. There were too many people to count, but at the end of the day all the brownies and cookies were gone, we had met and re-met lots of wonderful people, and we were all dead tired.

To top it all off, I set a sales record for the best single day in Fiber of Her Being's history.

Thank you to all who made it happen, including Jen, Greta, and James (the most wonderful husband and cookie chef on earth).

Fiber of Her Being Recognized as Top Business

Fiber of Her Being has been named "one of the best [businesses] in the DC metro region" by WeddingWire, Inc.

The WeddingWire Rated 2007 - Washington, DC Metro Region distinction is based on great reviews by my darling customers. This high classification takes service, responsiveness, professionalism, value, and flexibility into consideration.

As my boss in Mexico used to say, "Service is a good business."

Farewell, Lucy

My dear friend Lucy is heading homeward, leaving DC after many years. I collected about 70 pictures from all her friends and created a quilted scrapbook for her, including a map in the center that will direct her back to us whenever she wants to come.
