Seasonal Art-Wear Trunk Show - November 11

Three hot local artists offer a private showing of the most luscious gifts in town.

Kay Bailey: art quilts, scarves, and fabric jewelry (http://www.fiberofherbeing.com/)

Jen Athanas: hand-crafted bags and fashion accessories (http://www.jenafusion.blogspot.com/)

Greta Gonzalez: jewelry with hand-made glass beads (http://www.gretagonzalez.com/)

Come before -- or escape during -- the Redskins' game. Food, wine, and seasonal goodness will be served. Bring family and friends. And don't be scared: this is a great gift-buying opportunity, NOT a fashion show!

Contact Kay@FiberOfHerBeing.com for directions to the house/studio, or call (703) 752-4798.
Sunday, November 11, 2007 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

New Guest Book with Guests Past & Present

My favorite project this week has been the creation of a guest book for a wedding, which includes pictures of family members who have passed on but will be attending in spirit. The project was perfect for me because it was both sentimental and complex. The book features accordion pages that connect to each other instead of to a spine. When the book is closed, it latches shut with jewelry clasps. If you open the front clasp but not the back, you can open the book like a traditional book. If you open both clasps, you can separate the cover and stretch the pages all the way down the table. So neat! Thanks to Kate for trusting me with this treasure.

Bashert: Meant to Be

This small wall-hanging is the latest in my inspirational series that has been motivated by all the women I've met in my infertility journey. In particular, I'm dedicating it to my friend Ashley, who found out today that this cycle of in vitro fertilization did not work. The Hebrew letters spell out "Bashert," which means "meant to be." I just know that Ashley's family is meant to be. They're just waiting for the right moment.
