The Del Ray Artisans released a call for entries for an art show featuring poetry and word themes. So I brought out my journal from when I lived in Mexico after college. It's the best source of words -- united with art -- that I have. So I copied twelve pages out of the journal, including drawings and paintings that I'd done, sections of text describing my adventures and loneliness, and photos and do-dads I'd pasted in. I printed the copies onto fabric and put them into this quilt. The crowning element was a sequinned Virgen de Guadalupe applique my Dad had given me years ago. Brought just the right amount of sparkle to the piece.
