Girls Gotta Run Opening
On Wednesday, September 6, I attended the Girls Gotta Run Foundation art opening at the Sewall Bellmont House and Museum. The event was to benefit programs for the academic and athletic advancement of young Ethiopian girls, to give them an option in life besides early marriage. In attendance were my cheerleaders James Boiani and Marcy Goode. We had a great time seeing good art and eating good Ethiopian food. Attached are pictures of my piece ("Run a Mile in Her Shoes") and me with the Foundation's director, Pat Ortman. For more information on Girls Gotta Run, see their website at www.girlsgottarun.org. To see the exhibit, which runs until September 19, take a trip to the Sewall-Belmont House whose details you can find at http://www.sewallbelmont.org/. Finally, check out the wesite of an extraordinary artist I finally met in person that evening: Karen McCray. That's at http://www.aeomaia.com/.
